Despite being the most innovative digital temporary recruitment platform, like all great companies the most important part of TempRocket is its people – so let’s meet them. Self-made entrepreneur and TempRocket Founder Andrew Johnston started developing the business back in 2016 when he noticed a gap in the temporary recruitment market for a digital solution to help hirers, recruitment agencies and contractors work better together.
Andrew has over 20 years’ experience running businesses, supporting others and mentoring budding entrepreneurs with innovative ideas from inception to market. His specialist telecoms recruitment consultancy Red Pencil won the only contract ever issued to supply senior management and director level placements to BT. Meanwhile, over the past nine years he has founded and grown ePayMe, one of the UK’s largest outsource payroll providers to temporary recruitment agencies and freelance workers.
“The idea for TempRocket came about when we started to see a massive disparity between contractors, the agency and the end client working together – there was no seamless activity,” he explains. “So we set out to build an online booking system to help bridge that gap, and we’ve continued to add new features and capabilities to develop a product that can tick a box for everyone involved in the temporary recruitment process.”
The one-stop shop for temporary recruitment is very much a family affair, with Andrew’s partner Sarah Johnston looking after business development and client delivery. She brings a wealth of business experience to TempRocket across a range of sectors, ensuring the company provides excellent service and understanding to clients and contractors, and, leading by example, creates the vision to deliver its unique and bespoke offerings.
“In the six years before founding TempRocket with Andrew, I worked within the payroll and accountancy sector. Prior to this I’ve always been drawn to and worked within emotive sectors, first in IT then in property management. Wherever I’ve worked I’ve been acutely aware of the importance of temporary staff, as well as being frustrated at the recruitment process. At TempRocket we’ve changed all that. By harnessing the power of the latest online technology, we’ve simplified temporary recruitment for all parties involved. The entire hiring process can now be completed in seconds and is accessible 24/7.”
The latest addition to the TempRocket team is Client Relations Manager Elle-Jo Lane. Before joining in June 2018, she was a Senior Recruitment Consultant at one of the biggest recruitment agencies in the world.
“With over five years’ recruitment experience working for large global organisations, I’m a specialist in supporting contractors and end hirers throughout the full 360 recruitment process,” Elle-Jo explains. “I’m passionate about relationship building, which I believe is vital for a successful business. This is crucial to my role at TempRocket, which involves managing all entities on the platform.
